A Simpler Way to Ship Your 1688 Orders

Is the order ready to move as freight?

This service is for importers moving wholesale orders in multiple cartons, on pallets, or in crates. It fits when the seller can describe the packed lot and you need to arrange pickup or delivery to a cargo facility, then compare freight options to the same receiving address. Start with the supplier’s packing data even if the order is still in production. Label estimated figures clearly and update them after packing.

Turn supplier details into a quote brief

Ask for the goods description, number of handling units, outer dimensions and gross weight for each size group, and the date the full lot will be ready. Add the exact pickup or handoff address, destination postal code, delivery site type, and any special handling. These details help identify which charges a quote includes and which conditions could change it.

If the seller only gives you a product weight or a sample box size, ask for the export packing plan. Until that comes back, note the missing fields in the brief so any estimate can be reviewed on the right basis.

Compare air and sea using the same lot

An air quote may be driven by dimensional weight. A sea groupage quote can depend on weight, measurement, minimums, and charges at each end. Compare both using the same handling units, endpoints and delivery requirements. Ask which dates are estimates, how long the quote is valid, and whether it assumes the cargo can be stacked.

Confirm the freight scope before booking

Ask for a written breakdown of pickup, origin handling, main carriage, export and import clearance, duty and tax responsibility, and final delivery. Provide a commercial invoice, a packing list and product specifications so the forwarder can identify any route-specific documents needed. Flag batteries, machinery, oversized cargo, and any need for palletizing, crating or an appointment at delivery.

Confirm the quote currency, validity, billable weight or volume, minimum charge and what happens after remeasurement. For a door delivery quote, check whether appointment, unloading, customs inspection, storage or redelivery is included or billed separately. Approve the final quote against the latest packing list before authorizing pickup.

Agree on who hands over the cargo

Confirm who books the pickup vehicle, who loads it, and what receipt the forwarder should return. Ask the seller to mark each handling unit with the agreed shipment reference and count. Reconcile the count against the final packing list before authorizing dispatch. If the planned handoff changes, update the quote and pickup instructions together.

Common questions

What does a 1688 freight forwarder need to quote?

Provide the goods description, origin handoff point, destination postal code, packed unit count, outer dimensions, gross weights, cargo-ready date and delivery constraints. Describe special handling and flag any values the supplier has yet to confirm.

Can I start before my supplier finishes packing?

Yes. Ask for a preliminary estimate using the packing plan and mark each figure as estimated. Update the brief and ask for the quote to be reconfirmed when the final measurements and ready date are available.

What if my seller calls the order 24 cartons but ships it on two pallets?

Report both figures. Quote the two pallet footprints, heights and gross weights as the handling units if the pallets stay intact. List the 24 cartons as the contents so the packing list still reconciles to the purchase order.

Do I need to decide on air or sea before asking for a quote?

Provide the required receipt date and packing data. Request both options if the shipment can travel either way and ask for the date and scope assumptions behind each estimate.
